Tahoe Photos

Lake Tahoe is just beautiful. We have been hiking close to the Tahoe Rim Trail. The views are spectacular. Camping right in the Squaw Valley Ski Area. The skiing looks epic here. Too bad there's no snow. Been hiking with my friends Bone Lady, Cheese, Moose, and Peru. Scalpel and Rabbit are a few days behind us. Hopefully they will catch up. We are having a party at The Rainbow Lodge on July 3rd. (Evening) I have some fun videos to post here in a few days. Hope y'all had a great June.

Ps: I dumped my whole dinner over accidentally for the first time ever this eve. It had to happen sometime.... made more food.

1000 Miles Video!

Happy 1000 Miles!

We just passsed the 1000 mile marker on the PCT. The Sierra and Yosemite are behind us. (Sadly) The Yosemite backcountry was just beautiful. I just loved the terrain north of Tualmne Meadows. There is lots of variety in both rocks, trees, and plants. I have wonderful photos to share. Our last big pass was yesterday. Sonora Pass was a super dramatic alpine hike that was all above tree line complete with 60mph winds that knocked me over a few times. You know your in trouble when your backpack acts like a sail. Anyway, the terrain around Sonora Pass looks like amazing backcountry skiing. Its always fun to dream.....
Now we are posted up here in Bridgeport, CA. I am taking a zero day to rest. I feel good mostly, except in the mornings it feels like someone punched my feet in the night. The pain goes away eveyday after a few miles of hiking. We are staying in an old hotel that used to be a brothel. They say this place is haunted. I believe it. Still, its comfortable and I am stoked to get on the trail tomorrow. Hope you are all well. Love, Gourmet

Sierra Thoughts

This week was one of the finest weeks of backpacking ever. We caught a wonderful day to summit mt. Whitney and then hiked Muir Pass, Seldon Pass, Silver Pass, Glen Pass, Pinchot Pass, and two more that I am not remembering the names right now. The alpine country was spectacular. My favorite was Evolution Basin which is all above tree line with several lakes. I would have loved to stay up there, but I settled for a relaxing lunch with friends. Other highlights included: Rae Lakes, Palisade Lakes, and Virginia Lake. This week we will be hiking into Yosemite! I am taking a zero today. I need it. We are hanging out in Mammoth, CA. Last night we had some beers at the local Brewery and ate huge meals of fish tacos. Afterward I bought triple scoop icecream cones for my friends just so I could watch them eat it all. Good stuff!

JMT & Kings Canyon National Park

My blog has not been working well from the phone here, but we will try again.... In short we are at pct mile 788 and resupplying here in Bishop, CA. The Sierra is amaaaaaazing. The John Muir Trail has been referrered to by Backpacker Magazine as "The most beautiful trail in the world." Judging by the first 30 miles, I can see why. Love, gourmet

Kennedy Meadows Update 2

The energy here at Kennedy Meadows is incredible! People are just buzzing around stoked to be in the High Sierra. In three days I will be climbing Mt. Whitney which is the highest mountain in the lower 48 states. Then Forester Pass and a quick resupply in Independence, CA.
