Team Astro!

This Wednesday I am leaving Seattle to get back on the PCT with Astro, his dad Michael who is flying in from California on Tuesday, and my friend Dave. (who also lives in West Seattle) As you may know I hiked with Astro early in my thru hike. You might ask how none of the thru hikers knew Astro was battling lymphoma? It's a simple answer: We don't read each others blogs. We are busy with our own blogs and Astro's not just going around sharing this info and I certainly can't blame him. Anybody who hiked with Astro was quite blessed to be in his company and I am so honored to share the end of his (and my) long journey. I expect a big celebration at the Canadian border! Astro's completion of his thru hike is like non other this season. What an amazing accomplishment. Just check out his blog.

Our incredible weather window here in Washington state has finally closed. It is cold and raining in the North Cascades. It will almost certainly be raining when we hit the trail. They don't call it Rainy Pass for nothin'!

All you can do is put up the Chrome Dome (my umbrella) and keep smiling! Let's go hiking!

Hiker with lymphoma finds healing on 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail

Did anybody see this article from the Yakima Herald? Astro is my dear friend who I hiked with early on in the desert. And now I will rejoin him at Rainy Pass and hike the final 60 miles again. I will be joined by my close friend Dave, and hopefully Astro's dad Michael. I am leaving a week from tomorrow for an alternate ending to an already incredible five month journey.

Here are a few of my favorite photos of Astro from April/May. Step...Step...Step...

We are taking a zero today here in Government Camp just below Mt Hood. Thanks to Kam, Leslie, and Jayne, we were able to finish OR in just over three weeks. The hike is going great and I am looking forward to seeing some of my WA friends. Hint hint Scoo, Eagle, and KC. Cheers, Gourmet
