Nine years ago my father was diagnosed with CNS Lymphoma which is a very rare brain cancer. Dr. Ed Neuwelt is perhaps the most knowledgeable doctor regarding this type of cancer. People are treated from all over the world. Coincidence or not, Dr. Neuwelt works at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, which is less than five minutes from my parents house! I am quite convinced that Dr. Neuwelt saved my dad's life. With some encouragement from my mom and friend Will Windish, I am raising money to support cancer research. I will be donating to the cancer non-profit of Dr. Neuwelt's choice.
This April-September I walked 2,660miles from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail. The journey was the biggest challenge of my life and a huge milestone. Here you will find journal entries, gear reviews, photos, and video. I hope my blog will inspire you to adventure and follow your dreams. -Marc "Imperial Gourmet" Fendel

Tick Tock PCT Getting Close
The PCT is just around the corner. I have almost everything I need less shoes, maps, and all my meals in boxes. I talked to one of the folks at PCTA the other day who recommended that I join the facebook page: pct class of 2012. That page is packed with great info and good people sharing ideas on thru hiking.
Truth be told I am excited and anxious about the start of this trip. I am looking forward to having time to think for myself, write music, eat, walk, eat some more... repeat.
More soon! -Sundog

South Backcountry
Here's Jayne looking back at beautiful Silver Basin. This is a short hike from Crystal Mountain ski area. There was two feet of fresh untouched powder with a crust underneath. Best turns of the year. So far....
